eBay UK Fee Calculator — Private Seller Profit
Calculate eBay UK private-seller profit with free domestic selling, optional international fees, postage costs and eBay's buyer-protection pricing model.
How free private selling works
For a UK-based private seller, eBay charges no transaction fee in most categories and provides 300 free listings per month. Vehicles are excluded, and optional upgrades, promoted listings, excess listings or overseas delivery can still create charges.
The calculator therefore starts at 0% for a domestic private sale and subtracts only the costs you enter. It is not suitable for an eBay business account.
Buyer Protection changes the displayed price
eBay now adds a Buyer Protection fee to the item price on listings from UK-based private sellers. The buyer pays that fee to eBay; the seller sees the offer or listing amount they would receive.
The buyer fee is tiered: a flat £0.10, plus 7% of the first £20, 4% from £20 to £300, and 2% from £300 to £4,000. Nothing additional is charged on the portion above £4,000. It affects what the buyer sees, but it is not deducted from the private seller’s listed amount.
Costs still worth checking
| Situation | What to expect |

| Listings after the allowance | 35p each |
| Optional upgrades or promotion | Separate charge shown when listing |

Review eBay’s private seller fee page and Buyer Protection explanation before listing a high-value or international item.
